Beginning readers who focus on letter-sound relationships, or phonics, instead of trying to learn whole words, increase activity in the area of their brains best wired for reading, according to new Stanford research investigating how the brain responds to different types of reading instruction.
In other , to develop reading skills, teaching students to sound out "C-A-T" sparks more optimal brain circuitry than instructing them to memorize the word "cat." And, the study found, these teaching-induced differences show up even on future encounters with the word.

How many ways can you upload a video?....

Yesterday T.J stood in front of the whole school at singing, microphone in hand and sang to 'When I see you again'. I managed to video part of it, as well as part of his acting in out The 3 Billy goats gruff in class earlier in the day.

After school I text his mother to let her know how awesome her son had done, as it was impromptu. After downloading a programme to 'flip' the videos came the dilemma.... how do I share a 32MB video with her? It was obviously too big to send via text or email...

I tried adding it to my youtube channel, and then posting on my Facebook page as private, downloading Viber to my phone to try that, and even adding it to my Google drive... poor parents had so many links sent to them to try! This morning I decided to create a new blog - linked to my google account for our class... hopefully this way both Emma and I can add videos and pictures to share with the parents.

See - I don't spend ALL of my time on my game... now to try out Viber... hmmmm...
